Dark themes need contrast too

Gold on black looks luxurious until you try to read it.

Dark themes have a reputation for being easier on the eyes. They are not, if the text is a muted gold at sixty percent opacity.

I check every dark palette with an automated contrast audit in both themes. Most fixes are small: a lighter tint for body text, a darker gold for button labels, solid text on images.

The trap is that a dark theme can pass in one component and fail in another because of transparency stacking on a blurred background.

Luxury is legibility. Nobody feels pampered squinting.
